Y-it Entertainment’s Best Songs of 2017

Here is our Best Songs of 2017 played from our events.  Although we feel 2017 wasn’t a great year in music hits as most of our requests that packed the dance floor were older hits. 2017 artists mostly produced slower songs that were great to listen too, however weren’t really danceable. So if you are making your list for your next event keep in mind where the songs would be played.

If you are on the search for other song lists checkout First Dance, Father Daughter, and Cake Cutting. We also have lots of other tips and advice in your Blog as well as recaps of real weddings and events that we have performed at.

Here are the song in no particular order.

Top 2017 songs from Y-it Entertainment

In 2017, “Despacito” was ranked the fifth best Latin song of all time by Billboard and was positioned within the top ten songs of the year by Time, Billboard and Rolling Stone. In a country where we have many divides this song crossed all of them as we can say this song was requested by all ages and races. Although we don’t think this song will be as strong in 2018 it left a mark in 2017 for sure!

Portugal. The Man is an American rock band from Wasilla, Alaska. The song became the band’s first to top both the Billboard Alternative Songs and the Adult Alternative Songs charts. This is “Feel It Still”.

After a night of playing this song we can’t get the sound out of our heads. “Mi Gente” (English: “My People”) is a song recorded by Colombian singer J Balvin and French singer and producer Willy William. It was released on June 30th, 2017. Several remixes have been released making this a hot all across the world for sure!

Kendrick Lamar, “Humble” for sure was in our hip hop set for new hip hop songs. It made the list as every time we played it the crowd new the lyrics.

Although released in the fall of 2016 it never really made it big until 2017 so we are counting this song in 2017. “24k Magic” was probably played at every event we did unless Bruno Mars was on the “Don’t Play” list. We believe this song will still be hot in 2018.

Ed Sheeran’s “Shape of You” was another great song from Ed Sheeran. Although we usually played a remix version so it was easier to mix in a mix out this was a great song for 2017

The Weekend one of our favorite artists had “I feel it coming”. Although the original version is a bit slow we played a remixed version that packed the dance floor.

Chris Stapleton for our country fans was a big request in general. We played Chris Stapleton during cocktails and dinner.

Imagine Dragons “Thunder”. Although we really did’t start getting requests for this song until late 2017 this song is worth the mention. We believe this will be a strong song for 2018.

Khalid’s “Young, Dumb, & Broke” very popular since it’s release in August of 2017. Great song for drinking and not so much for dancing yet we received lot’s of requests for it.
